i’m just saying that the differences between #yesallmen and #yesallwomen really highlight the issue here….

When we spoke to Joaquin Phoenix he talked about his mockumentary I’m Still Here, and the David Letterman interview he did to promote it:

The only thing that bothered me was that it might be difficult for me to work again because obviously I wasn’t retiring and obviously I wanted to make films — and a certain kind of film — so the only thing that really gave me pause was at some point [thinking] “How will this affect my career?”

So much of the way we made the movie didn’t allow us the time to really consider things, and by the time we did, it was too late and we had painted ourselves into this corner. It’s funny because when I was going on Letterman, initially the idea was we were going to make some noise and do something much more extroverted and big and out there. …

Just before I went on, [director] Casey [Affleck] is like, “Listen, I think you’ve got to play this broken; I think the best way to put this together is that you will have gone and seen [rapper/producer] Diddy and he will say that your music is not working out … and then this is just heartbreak. … So you’re just virtually catatonic.” It was just this kind of switch, 180 degrees from what we initially talked about doing. … I think maybe if I had the time to think about it more, maybe it would’ve changed my opinion.

We went to this burger place for lunch and the walls were papered with rolling stones covers and it just really becomes obvious when you see lots of magazine covers next to each other that men are treated as people and women are treated as objects.

The question of whether a vegan diet is our natural diet or the healthiest is irrelevant. The facts are we can survive and thrive on a vegan diet. The issue at hand is a vegan diet is ethical, it allows us to nourish ourselves without exploiting and murdering other animals and allows us to live in alignment with the values of justice, fairness, and compassion.

I’m gonna scream

their faces!!!

Elliott was found wandering the streets of Brooklyn with a tag in his ear that said “MEAT.” He had recently escaped from a live animal market in New York.

He has since gained almost 50 pounds, and is growing strong enough to romp and play.

After massive flooding in the Midwest in 2008, thousands of pigs were abandoned in factory farms. Among them was Nikki, who managed to save herself and gave birth in a levee. She kept her babies safe until rescuers arrived.

She and her babies are still inseparable!

Opie was discarded and left to die from hypothermia by a dairy producer.

Gene Baur, founder of Farm Sanctuary, rescued Opie. He later went on to become the leader of Farm Sanctuary’s cattle herd for 18 years.

“When people get to know a farm animal, look into the eyes of a cow, a pig or a chicken, they see that they are not that different than cats or dogs. They are very much like the companion animals that people have in their houses,” Baur said. “They have memories, they develop relationships, they have complex emotional lives just like other animals.”

Companion animals aren’t the only ones who feel and express joy, gratitude, love and happiness at the chance of a new life free from harm.
